Hello! I'm on a journey I had never imagined for myself. It has come with twists, turns and blessings. It wouldn't surprise me at all if you can relate to that sentiment. While life doesn't look like the original picture I dreamed up in my college years, I wouldn't change it. Each moment has been used to make me the woman I am today. There is one passion, however, that has remained constant: I have always pictured myself as a mother. Now with trust, and a little fear, I am ready to take steps into this beautiful unknown- parenthood. I am filled with hopeful anticipation of what the coming days and months will bring. As I write this letter I find myself imagining what you are like. What are your strengths and your gifts? What makes you laugh? What has led you to pursue adoption for your child? I know right now I cannot know the answers to these questions, but I look forward to learning them. I have had a deep passion for adoption for many years as my younger brothers joined our family through foster care and then adoption. Their stories, and the beautiful picture they have created of our family, have lead my heart to take that journey again myself. I know that my situation is unique as a single woman working as a missionary in the Dominican Republic, but I also believe that some of the passions, talents and opportunities that I have been blessed with can be used to support a child and her birth family. Living in the Dominican Republic also means that she will have the blessing of a bilingual and multicultural background. Teaching and working in schools for the past ten years has given me a door into many families and communities. Through them I have been encouraged, taught and challenged. I know that I will not get everything right as a mom, no matter how hard I try, but I do have an amazing support system and extended family that will stand beside me and this child. My heart and life lie open to you. It is not glamorous, and it is far from perfect, but it is full. Full of love, full of joy, and full of possibility. I look forward to answering any questions you may have as you look through this little window into my life. Sincerely, Jessica

More About My Family

My life is full of ordinary moments like watching I Love Lucy, Madame Secretary or Designated Survivor on T.V. Moments like teaching young girls, riding around in shopping carts or dressing up like I'm 100 for the 100th day of school. All of these little moments add up to my life and I am thankful for them.

About Jessica

More About Jessica

As Jessica's best friend, coworker, and housemate for the past four years, I have the blessing of knowing her in a very unique way. She is one of the most thoughtful people I know and is always ready to serve those around her. At school, she leads her staff with honesty and love, communicating clearly and valuing each person for their individual gifts. As a friend, she couldn’t be more loyal. She encourages me often and also challenges me when I need to be pushed. Jessica’s love for children is contagious and her desire to be a mom is one of her greatest dreams. Whether she is teaching in the classroom or fellowshipping with friends at church, you will always find a child in her arms or waiting anxiously by her side. Living these years with her and seeing her prepare her heart and home for this child, it is clear that God has created Jessica to be a mom. There is no place I’d rather be than watching with joy as this little one is loved and raised by Jessica. - Ellen
