More About Our Family
Ever since the earliest days of our relationship, we talked about the kind of family we envisioned for ourselves, one that we always foresaw including children. However, after many years of unsuccessfully trying to conceive, we have come to recognize that God's plan for us is to grow our family through adoption, and we are so excited! We look forward to guiding our child through all of life's ups and downs, discovering the beauty of nature, sharing the love of family, and seeing the world anew through their sense of wonder. Education is very important to us, and we will do all we can to encourage a love of learning. We enjoy exploring our area by taking day trips on weekends and finding interesting new places! We also envision many impromptu picnics with our little one! Our Catholic faith guides our daily lives and interactions with each other, by always treating one another with respect, kindness, and understanding. We also try to live out our faith with a sense of lightheartedness and humor. We love making each other laugh with a perfectly timed movie quote, usually something from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Office Space, or Billy Madison. If we could summarize our life philosophy, it would be that we are all about balance. We love both Antiques Roadshow and The Avengers; a home-cooked meal and a fancy dinner out. We hope to instill in our child a sense of both adventure and safety. We will teach them to recognize their uniqueness as something to be proud of, to try hard to be their best self, and to have empathy for others. We will encourage them in their education, and also make sure that they take time to enjoy life by nurturing their interests. We will make sure that they know just how much they are loved by us and their birth parents.
More About Harry
Family has always been incredibly important to me. It has been one of my greatest joys watching my niece grow up! We were there to see her board the bus for her first day of kindergarten and attended many of her school concerts and plays. We saw her cross the stage as she received her high school diploma, and shared in many, many days in between! I am looking forward to watching our child grow and experience all of the wonders of the world around them, whether it's on nature walks or their first bike ride. I will always be there to love, encourage, and support them. My hobbies include photography and grilling for family and friends. Ever since I was a kid, I have enjoyed building model cars, and nowadays, I have a few remote control cars that I like to race around the back yard! From Sheila: "Harry is as kind as they come! He is so attentive to all the little details, from making my tea in the morning to brushing snow off my car and opening my car door. His joy is infectious, and not a day goes by that we don't have a good laugh!"
More About Sheila
My family is a huge part of my life, and everyone is thrilled to welcome out little one! My parents live about 20 minutes from us, and we spend many weekend afternoons with them. We love just hanging out in their backyard on sunny afternoons, or working on puzzles together at our house. My sister lives in Mystic, CT, where we visit several times a year. My nephew is especially excited to love and play with his new cousin! I am so excited for our family to grow with a child! I will always encourage them in their learning by reading to them, taking them to the library, and helping with homework. I'll also make lots of time for playing and just being silly! I love baking, and can often be found going through one of many cookbooks looking for new recipes to try. I've tried my hand at many crafts, from rubber stamping to quilting. My mom taught me to crochet a few years ago, and I've also recently begun weaving and watercolor painting. From Harry: "Sheila is such a loving person! Her smile lights up a room, which is positively contagious. She has such a warm personality, and she is a great listener. Sheila's wonderful sense of humor makes her a fun person to be around!"
