Thank you so much for looking into our profile!

We hope this letter gives you a good idea of who we are, and our desire to grow our family. We have always thought we would pursue adoption, whether or not we had biological children. We have waited patiently, but have yet to become pregnant. All the while, we have jobs we love, we live in a great community, and we get so much joy from our two snuggly cats and one very silly – and also snuggly! – dog. So recently, we each other: “well, what are we waiting for?” And that’s when we began seriously looking into adoption.

As you’ll soon read, Karl is a pastor, and so church is a very big part of our life. Jen works from home and is also very involved at church. We both love a great cup of coffee, cooking, reading, and taking day trips to historic sites together. Jen enjoys gardening and baking, and she sings and plays piano – both at church, and at home just for fun. Karl loves to grill in the summer, and he is a big sports fan – especially baseball. He hopes to coach little league someday, whether for boys or girls.

One of the benefits of ministry life is that we have a large, loving, and diverse church family: people of all ages and races. Our own families may live far away, but we have dozens of friends and grandparents right in the pews who are ready to help. They know we are pursuing adoption, and they can’t wait to welcome a boy or a girl of any race or background: they just can’t wait to love them!  There are other babies at church to grow into friends someday, and even teens and grandmothers who will be thrilled to babysit.

Since we have started to speak openly to people about the adoption process, it has led to some amazing conversations with folks in our church: some who were adopted themselves, and others whose children were adopted. They have given us much wisdom and insight about the joy of growing families through adoption, and they have promised to be with us all along the way.
