Dear Expectant Parents,

As we write this letter to you our hearts are filled with excitement and hope in fulfilling our long held dream of becoming parents. We want to first thank you for choosing life for your baby. Your choice is extremely brave and selfless. We can only imagine how tough it’s been to process all the emotions that come along with making a birth plan for your child.

We’ve been married for a little over 10 years. And while we are definitely not perfect we are loving, caring, encouraging and like to make each other laugh. As a couple we want to extend what we’ve been for one another to a child in whom we can invest our lives and our love. You are no doubt looking for a place for your child that will give you reassurance that they will be loved unconditionally, raised to reach their fullest potential and feel safe. We are longing to provide these things and believe that we could all be blessed in connecting around our mutual desires.

To get a better sense of what we are like, we have to say that humor is a big part of our lives. From the very beginning of our relationship humor is something we both appreciated about one another. Our sense of humor has been a real strength in our marriage.  We find humor in our differences. For example, I have a great sense of direction where Ken relies heavily on GPS. Ken likes to plan everything we do and I am more spontaneous. I enjoy a night on the town and Ken would be perfectly content staying home, reading a book or watching TV. We often laugh about this and have come to appreciate how these differences really make us a perfect fit for each other. Overall, silliness and a sense of humor go a long way in our household.

We also have a lot in common. We both stand on the same foundation of our faith. We are committed to each other and making our marriage work. We’ve struggled through infertility and many other life challenges and feel we’ve come out stronger from those tough times. We both love to travel – especially to the beach and we enjoy a going out for a good meal or to the movies, although sometimes we just stay home and watch Netflix! Our career paths are pretty different too – Ken is a hospice chaplain and I work in the fashion industry. We’ve been able to help each other with our strengths: earlier this year when my dad passed away, Ken was able to really help me understand grief and supported me through so much, even doing the eulogy at my dad’s funeral. And when Ken needs a new suit, I’m happy to share insider tips I’ve learned like tailoring it being much more affordable than buying a new one.

We hope this gives you an idea of our personalities and our lives together. We would be honored if you chose us and look forward to getting to know you as well!
