How Do I Give My Baby Up for Adoption?

What if you didn't actually have to give up your baby? What if you could have a relationship with your child?

Adoption today is about giving you the power to choose what your adoption plan looks like. You can influence how often, and in what ways, you will connect with your child’s adoptive family. Throughout the entire process, you are in control. And while only you can make this choice, we can walk alongside you at any point during your pregnancy to help you make an adoption plan for your child.

Think about Your Adoption Plan

Think about Your Adoption Plan

All adoption plans are unique because the people involved—birthparents, children, and adoptive parents—have varying needs and desires. Most women today choose open adoption, where they make an agreement with their child’s adoptive parents to maintain contact and develop a lasting relationship. But adoption looks different for each and every woman. It’s up to you to decide how much contact, if any, you want with your child’s adoptive family. If you’re curious what an adoption plan might look like, we have a sample available. Remember, this information is in no particular order. Even if you are very close to giving birth, or already have given birth, you can still receive guidance. You are still in control. You still have options.

Choose an Adoptive Family

Choose an Adoptive Family

Regardless of what your adoption plan looks like, you’ll be able to explore our many waiting families. These are individuals, couples, or families who are approved to adopt a child through Bethany. They have each written a letter explaining their motivation for adopting, and you’ll be able to think through the type of family you’d like to raise your child. For instance, maybe you want your child to live in the city with other siblings and be raised within a religious family. Whatever your interests, we’ll work with you to find the best family for your child and your preferred adoption format.
